The LSU Department of Chemistry welcomes Professor Rabi Musah as the Patrick F. Taylor Endowed Chair in Environmental Chemistry. Musah brings a wealth of knowledge and research expertise in environmental chemistry, plant defense mechanisms, forensic science, and STEM education. Her interdisciplinary research combines innovative mass spectrometry techniques with a commitment to solving real-world environmental, health, and forensic-related challenges.
LSU Graduate Student Selected as a 2024 Science Policy Fellow

LSU Chemistry doctoral candidate Vanessa Hulse has been selected as a 2024 Science Policy Fellow by the Gulf Research Program (GRP) of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. The fellowship program will allow Vanessa to apply her research skills to policy-related issues and significantly impact the health and sustainability of Gulf Coast communities and ecosystems.
Working in the laboratory of Prof. Noémie Elgrishi, Vanessa's research focuses on
removing nitrogen-containing compounds from water using electrochemical methods. The
project aims to mitigate harmful algae blooms that threaten marine life and human
health in the Gulf of Mexico.
LSU Chemistry Welcomes New Faculty Member Specializing in Advanced Solid-State NMR Techniques

LSU Chemistry welcomes Dr. Pu Duan, who will join the LSU faculty as an assistant professor of analytical chemistry starting this Fall 2024. Dr. Duan brings a wealth of knowledge in Solid-State Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (SSNMR), focusing on its application to complex biological and material systems.
Investigating Energy Solutions for the Petrochemical Industry

LSU Science, Engineering Awarded $1M Federal Grant for New ESTEEMED Program

Prof. Zakiya S. Wilson-Kennedy secured an NIH R-25 ESTEEMED training grant. The program will support innovative educational initiatives aimed at fostering a more diverse biomedical research workforce.
