Scholarships & Opportunities
The Lutrill & Pearl Payne School of Education offers a wide range of scholarships to support future teachers at every stage of their education. In 2024–2025, more than 150 scholarships totaling over $279,000 helped undergraduate and graduate students pursue their academic goals.
Scholarships are awarded based on factors like academic achievement, financial need, and donor criteria. LSU uses the Blackbaud Award Management (BAM) system to help you find and apply for scholarships across the university and within the School of Education. Explore Scholarships in BAM
Scholarships
When you apply to LSU and select a School of Education major, your information is automatically considered for many scholarships. The priority deadline for undergraduate scholarship consideration is December 15.
Continuing students must apply each year through BAM to be considered for university and college scholarships. Some scholarships require an additional application specific to your senior college or to an individual opportunity.
Additional scholarships for future teachers, including opportunities outside of LSU, are also available.
Have questions? The LSU Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships can help guide you through the process.

Education students have access to a variety of paid tutoring opportunities that build real classroom experience while fitting into a busy schedule. From virtual programs to in-person support, tutoring allows you to work directly with students, strengthen instructional skills, and earn income while preparing for a career in teaching.
These roles offer flexible hours, professional training, and meaningful impact—helping you apply what you’re learning while supporting learners at every level.
Tutor with Ignite is a paid, virtual tutoring opportunity for students who want hands-on experience in education—without overloading their schedule. As a Teach For America Ignite Fellow, you’ll work online with a small group of students while building leadership skills and making a real impact.
Fellows tutor 2–3 students for 3–5 hours per week over a 14-week term, earning a $800–$1,200 award in the fall and $1,000–$1,400 in the spring.
