Protect your pets during heavy rain

With heavy rain expected across much of south Louisiana this week, the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine is encouraging pet owners and residents to prepare for the possibility of displaced wildlife and hazardous conditions for animals. Periods of heavy rainfall can quickly create hazardous conditions for pets while also forcing wildlife from flooded habitats into neighborhoods, parks, roadways, and backyards. Interested in applying to LSU Vet Med to pursue your Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, Master's (MS) degree or Doctoral (PhD) degree, Advanced Training (internships or residencies), Externship, or Career (Job Opportunities)?

Please note that MS and PhD candidates do not need to have a research interest in veterinary medicine and research does not need to benefit animals. LSU Vet Med is a biomedical research institution as well as a veterinary school. Our researchers' investigations cover a wide range of disciplines, including cancer biology, disease processes, cardiovascular disease, infectious and parasitic diseases, neurosciences, toxicology, bacteriology, and more.

LSU Vet Med issues Call for Entries for its International Exhibition on Animals in Art

The LSU School of Veterinary Medicine is asking artists from around the world to enter its 32nd Annual International Exhibition on Animals in Art, which will run from October 10-November 6, 2026. The exhibition is free and open to the public. The deadline to receive entries is July 15, 2026.
