J. Michael Martinez

Dr. Martinez is an Associate Professor in Sport Management and also serves as the Associate Director of the school. In addition to these roles, he is the Director of Online Programs for the School of Kinesiology, overseeing the MS in Sport Management and BS in Sport Administration, while also serving as the liaison between LSU Online and the School for all programs. Dr. Martinez primarily conducts research on the work experiences of employees within sport, as well as management education. Dr. Martinez has published research in the various sport and general academic journals, including the Journal of Sport Management, European Sport Management Quarterly, International Journal of Sport Management, Sport, Business, Management: An International Journal, and Journal of Hospitality, Leisure, Sport & Tourism Education among others. He has made numerous presentations at both national and international conferences, and was the inaugural recipient of the Distinguished Service and Mentorship Award for the Applied Sport Management Association in 2021. Prior to entering academia, he worked for several years in college athletics and in non-profit marketing.
